Reusable Fabric Easter Egg Pattern

I have a grocery bag of plastic eggs that I pull out every Easter and have to try to find matching tops and bottoms, throwing out several broken ones as I go. Over the years, the stash of eggs has dwindled and is pretty sad looking!

Enter the reusable fabric egg! These eggs are so cute. They’re fillable, so you can stuff them with Easter treats, they’re washable, reusable, and will last for many years.

Watch the tutorial below for how to make your own fabric Easter eggs and then grab the printable pattern so you’ll have your pattern pieces ready.

These fabric Easter eggs are made with scraps of cotton fabric and a scrap of batting. If you don’t have batting, you can use something else like flannel, just to give the eggs a little bit of body.

The eggs have an envelope opening in the back so they can be filled with candy, money, or other Easter goodies for Easter baskets.

The PDF pattern for these eggs is beginner friendly and includes all the photos and step by step instructions you need to make a bunch of eggs. This is a very quick project! I added fun trims like rick rack to some of mine (it helps to use trims that naturally curve).

Then I decided to batch sew a bunch of patchworky eggs and this was a very fun and fast method of batch sewing a lot of eggs at once. If you have a lot of eggs to make, this is the method I recommend! The video tutorial shows you just how to do it.

We’ve always kept Easter baskets pretty simple, and I’ve always loved to make a little something for my kids’ baskets. Now that they’re teens, sometimes that’s a new coffee sleeve, or a zipper pouch. But if you have littler ones, I have some super cute Easter patterns in my shop like the Bunny Rag Doll and Matchbox Bunnies.

I hope you’re inspired to make some fabric Easter Eggs! Don’t forget to grab the pattern from my shop. If you make some, I’d love to see :) Tag me on Instagram @pincutsew and show me your Easter makes!

Happy Sewing!
