Introducing, the newest pattern in the Pin Cut Sew pattern shop! This pattern is for a quilted doll sleeping bag that you can sew up in three sizes. This is one of those things I keep wishing I’d come up with sooner, as my own kids would have really loved them for their dolls when they were younger. Luckily, these will make great gifts, so I’ll be able to make other peoples’ kids happy with them, haha.

I’ve had this project in the works for several weeks now, but it took longer than I thought it would because after making the first cute little doll sleeping bag to go along with my Phoebe Rag Doll patterns, I decided I really needed to make more sizes.

As always, I have tried my hardest to make this pattern beginner friendly. It incorporates some basic quilting skills, so even if you’ve never quilted before, you can learn with this project. It also teaches you a machine method for the binding (no hand sewing required!)

Even so, if you do need more help or more of a visual, I’ve of course created a step by step video of this project. I appreciate those who have told me how much they like having the video to accompany the patterns! Videos are obviously a lot of work, but I feel like it’s totally worth it knowing that they’re providing extra value. And since I truly aim to create beginner friendly sewing content, I’m happy to go that extra mile to help others learn.

Sizing

Now for the sizes so you’ll know which size to start with for whatever doll you’re wanting to sew for:

The small size sleeping bag fits the Phoebe Rag Doll and any other doll that is about 10”-12” high.

The medium size fits 14”-16” dolls, including Bitty Baby, Cabbage Patch, and the standard size Build-a-Bear. Most traditional baby dolls will use the medium size.

The large sleeping bag is made to fit 18” dolls, including American Girl, Our Generation and other similar brands. It should also fit the largest size from Build-a-Bear.

Supplies

There are a few supplies I mentioned in the video and that are helpful for this project, so I’ll go ahead and link those here as well.

Hop over to the shop and grab your pattern! By my fourth version, I could make one in under and hour, so it’s a quick project that makes a great gift, especially when paired with a new doll … and especially if that doll is also handmade … like a Phoebe Rag Doll ;)

Let me know if you have any questions about this new pattern and if you make one, but sure and let me see! Tag me on Instagram, or send me an email through the blog. I can’t wait to see what you come up with :)

Cheers!

Nikki
