Phoebe Rag Doll Cat & Mouse Pattern

In case you missed it! Last week I released another doll sewing pattern in my shop, the Phoebe Rag Doll Cat and Mouse pattern, with the cutest little clothes! This new pattern is a sister pattern to the Phoebe Rag Doll I released a few weeks ago with the sleep sack and diaper. The baby doll pattern has already been very popular and the new animal dolls are catching up fast, making me just giddy that so many are finding this pattern both adorable and doable!

My goal with these soft doll patterns was to release a series of easy-to-sew doll patterns that use only one pattern piece for the body and head, plus simple, but cute clothing to go with each pattern that will fit all the dolls. So with the series of patterns, one can make an entire little doll wardrobe.

Because the patterns are designed to mix and match, I’ve also made it easy to buy both together! The pattern bundle option includes the baby doll, cat & mouse, plus the sleep sack and diaper, and the dress, shirt and bloomers.

You can read more information on sewing these patterns on this post, where I addressed some anticipated FAQ’s. But, at 10” tall, these dolls are actually very scrap friendly, so you really can get started with what you already have at home. The animals can be made in any creative color you want, so that makes it even easier to scrounge around for materials. I like to harvest fabrics from my family’s giveaway bin because oftentimes, clothes have some fun trim or buttons that can take doll clothes up a notch.

While I do love making the dolls (I’ve made 7 of them for design purposes, ha!), it’s the cute little clothes I’m having the most fun with. I was determined to design things that are easy to make and easy for little hands to get on and off the dolls easily. This is why I avoided fussy closures and designed the clothes with elastic necklines.

Cat & Mouse comes with the pattern for a dress or shirt and little bloomers.

Learn to sew an easy, soft animal rag doll pattern, simple enough for even kids to sew with help. This beginner friendly pdf sewing pattern includes the cat and mouse doll pattern, which uses just one pattern piece for the head and body, plus the dr…

I’m working on video sew-a-longs for all the dolls and clothes! As of now, I have posted a video for how to make the baby doll that walks you through the entire process, including the embroidered face, sewing tight curves, and tips for sewing the pattern with kids. I’ve recorded the sleep sack and diaper video, I just need to edit it, so look for that next week! The animal dolls go together the same way as the babies, other than the ears, so this video will be helpful even if you’re making the cat or mouse doll first.

Several people have shared what they’ve made using my patterns with me via Instagram or on Etsy messages and it seriously makes my day every time! So if you make a Phoebe rag doll, definitely show it to me!

Let me know if you have questions about the pattern or ideas/requests for other Phoebe Rag Doll animals, clothes or accessories! Cow & Pig are in the works next (EDIT: They’re here!) and I am super excited about them (I was obsessed with cows as a kid, haha).

Cheers!
