Sew the Blazer Trend! 17 Great Pattern Choices

Blazers are a hot trend right now! I was lucky enough to score a perfect vintage corduroy blazer at a thrift store last year and it’s been so useful in my wardrobe every since, it has my wheels turning about adding a few more blazers to my wardrobe in this upcoming season.

I don’t expect to score the perfect fitting blazer twice at a thrift store, so I set out looking for the best sewing patterns for blazers instead. Sewing a blazer would help me hone my tailoring skills and learn some techniques I probably haven’t tried before, so I’m excited to give it a whirl.

I set out to find the BEST blazer patterns for women in the style of the current blazer trend —that means less tailored, not cropped, but the classic wear-with-jeans-or-anything styles. Some of these are a bit more fitted while others are oversized, but they are all generally in that casual, versatile vein.

This list includes several commercial patterns from the Big 4 pattern companies, plus a great list of Indie blazer patterns, AND a few blazer patterns that are even FREE!

The Ultimate List of Blazer Sewing Patterns

Blazer Patterns from the Big 4 Pattern Companies:

These are all currently in print! If you’re in the U.S., be sure and wait for a sale at JoAnn. If you don’t have a JoAnn, these companies all run sales online pretty often, so it makes sense to join their email lists so you’re notified of those. For others, try searching the pattern numbers on Amazon or Etsy.

These are all printed patterns, so if you’re looking for PDF printable patterns, read on to the next section for the indie options!

Indie Blazer Sewing Patterns:

These are all patterns by Indie designers, which tend to have larger size ranges, more detailed instructions, and more accurate size charts that Big 4 patterns. Many newer sewists prefer Indie patterns since the Big 4 have sort of a learning curve just to read them. Many of these are availabe both on Etsy and the designers’ websites, so I’m linking to the Etsy shops whenever applicable to simplify things, and since Etsy is familiar and trusted by most shoppers.

These are all printable PDF patterns!

Are you excited to sew a blazer or two for Fall? I am! I’m thinking since I already have my navy corduroy one, I need some kind of tweed one to round out my options. But also, wouldn’t a linen blazer be nice for Summer? Ooh, now I’m thinking.

Happy Sewing!
