Volume 1: Welcome to the New Pin Cut Sew Newsletter!
Why a “new” newsletter?
Are you like me and really miss those O.G. days of blogging, when we all just shared what we were loving, things we were working on, thoughts on parenting, and just whatever we felt inspired by? I miss that sidebar list of sewing blogs I’d check on every day to see if they’d posted anything new, and I miss the conversation in the comments too.
This newsletter was inspired by those good ol’ blogging days. In it, I’ll be sharing Pin Cut Sew news like sales and new patterns, as always, but I’ll also be sharing photos that don’t make it into other more official content, and things I’ve been working on, what things I’ve been inspired by around the Internet, and some sewing tips and ideas here and there, of course. I hope you enjoy it!
New in the Shop
There is a cute new pattern in my shop! The first one of 2026, actually. The Hippo Doll pattern is one I’ve been mulling over for awhile, and it was just begging for a tutu and leg warmers :) You can purchase this new pattern in my shop or on Etsy. I’d say it’s one of the easiest in my collection of doll patterns, so if you’ve been wanting to try sewing a rag doll, this would be a good place to start.
Also in the shop is my newest art print! I started drawing this last year and finished it at the end of Summer, so I almost waited until Spring to list it. But, I was informed that the seed catalogs are arriving now and indoor seed starting is already happening, so I went ahead and added it to my shop! It’s an 8” x 10” print, professionally printed on premium paper.
I’ve been working on …
I’ve made quite a list of quilts I want to finish and/or start this year. You can watch my latest video to see all my quilting plans, but I’m most excited right now to finish my great grandmother’s quilt. My mom passed these quilt blocks down to me and I thought my Granny had made them, but Mom called today and said it was actually my Great Grandmother! They’re hand pieced and some of them have already been turned into a full quilt row.
I wouldn’t say she was the most careful quilter haha, because there are some places where she sort of made things fit and some places where I’ll need to problem solve if I’m going to finish this quilt so it lasts. And I’ll have to add some fabrics of my own to finish the large squares, of course. But I’ll document this finish on YouTube for sure, so stay tuned!
I’ve also been reworking my gallery wall quilt. I started this last year and sort of fell out of love with it. I got it back out and tried again and then I just went in a totally different direction. I LOVE what I ended up doing and that will be next week’s video, so I can’t wait to show you! It’s a good lesson in letting go when something isn’t working.
I’ve been inspired by …
I’ve been so inspired by Rachel at Stitched in Color lately! I love her work so much that I signed up for her 2026 Block of the Month club and am really loving it so far.
I’m also loving the YouTube channel, MerryMabelMarket. She has some great quilting videos that I’ve been so inspired by!
Third, I’ve been seeing so many crescent shaped bags lately and I even bought my daughter this Baggu one for Christmas. I love the Baggu version, but they don’t have any colors that are singing to me, so instead I think I’ll make one. The patterns I’m looking at are either this one or this one.
I’ve been reading …
I am LOVING the Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion series! I can see why it’s getting so much attention, it’s absolutely fantastic. I also recently read A Wrinkle in Time and didn’t really like it, lol. There’s my hot take for the day, feel free to tell me why it’s actually great.
That’s all for today! I hope you enjoy this new newsletter format! Feel free to tell me what things you’ve been loving lately.
Until next time,
Happy Sewing :)
