Last week I ordered some fabrics from the Fabric.com sale and one of them was a rayon spandex jersey that was on clearance for $3 a yard!! This is the fabric that dreams are made of, you guys. In fact, it's the fabric that pricey brands like Athleta uses for dresses like this one. (I have that dress, got it on clearance and love it).
I sewed up a dress over a couple of days and wore it yesterday. It's so soft and dreamy!
I used Kwik Sew 4171. I'm not sure it's the most flattering shape on me, it seems to widen me just a bit, but the comfort leverages that for me! And I do love that petal hem in the front, it's so pretty. I did cut the neckline a little lower in front and also, I made the small, but I think the extra small might work better for next time. Which is dumb sizing, because I don't wear an extra small in anything, ha!
As luck would have it, McCall's Patterns is having an all brand sale, so you can get this and any other Kwik Sew, McCall's or Butterick pattern for $3.99 and any Vogue for $6.99. My local fabric stores don't have the awesome sales that JoAnn and Hobby Lobby on the mainland have on patterns, so I watch for these sales and order my patterns online.
Here are some of my pick from the Summer patterns:
Is anyone else planning Summer sewing projects?
Cheers and Happy Sewing :)
