I love Summer! Even though I live in a place where it's Summer all year round (weather-wise, at least), I still revel these months without homeschooling and being able to go to the pool every day or meet friends at the beach or water park. And extra sewing time too, of course! Love it.
I've been scouting awesome Summer sewing projects and compiled a few of them here for you. There are so many great things out there, I'll probably need a part 2 for this post, for sure.
Let's get started!
I am crushing hard on this Summertime Sampler quilt by Freshly Pieced, especially that sno cone block (or shave ice, as we call it here in Hawaii). I think I might make three of that block for a shave ice table runner. Check out her progress here. Those colors are killin' me, I love them!
I've never sewn swimwear because I have fine luck ordering from certain places online. I do, however need more swimwear than the average person and I'm quite picky about it too. Side story: Funniest thing I've seen on a Waikiki thus far was two spring breakers in string bikinis, each with an open can of soda, trying to get onto their $2 blow up rafts and trying to keep their swimsuits in place. There is just no graceful way to do that and I was lol-ing. Moral of the story: you'll have a lot more fun in the ocean if you choose swimwear that stays put! I wear swim shorts like these from Athleta, but they're pricey, so I only have one pair. Luckily, Jalie patterns has a great swim shorts pattern with built-in briefs. Perfect! And their patterns come with all sizes in one envelope, from little girls all the way up to women. They have lots of other swimwear patterns too.
How cute is this kids swim cover up pattern? And you can use cute beach towels to make them!
Or for the ladies, this cover up is so pretty! And the tutorial is free.
If you've been on Pinterest recently, you're sure to have seen this amazing little pineapple backpack! So cute. Also a free tutorial.
These cute fruit slice coasters would be simple for the kids to help make! I can see my girls having fun with these and giving them as gifts.
Sticking with the fruit slice theme, how fun are these citrus slice bags? The kids could easily help with these too!
I bought this adorable pineapple fabric at the small military craft store last week. Love it! The line is "Mojito" by Windham Fabrics.
And my pineapple mini quilts, two ways!
Cheers and happy sewing!!
